GRACE’s Experience in Her Mid-50s: Firmness, Glow, Pores & a Very Happy Vacation

Real GOURI Skin Booster Review

Hello, I’m GRACE, a manager at Cheongdam Éclat de Clinic.

Not long ago, I attended a GOURI Skin Booster launch seminar, and as I sat listening to the presentations on liquid PCL, collagen biostimulation, and different clinical approaches, one particular memory kept coming back to me ~

It was last March, just before I left for a vacation in Southeast Asia with my daughter

At the time, GOURI had not yet been officially introduced to the Korean market on a large scale. Now, seeing so many doctors gather to discuss its research, techniques, and clinical applications made me smile a little. I realized that I had already experienced the treatment myself months earlier.

So today, instead of writing as a clinic manager, I wanted to share my experience simply as a woman in her mid-50s who actually had the treatment.

And yes, this is a very real review — including the part where I discovered that I am not nearly as good with pain as I thought I wasemoji-28

A Mother-Daughter Vacation… and One Small Concern

I am in my mid-50s, with one daughter and one son.

As my children have grown older, I have come to appreciate the quieter kind of happiness that comes with being able to enjoy meals, conversations, and trips together almost like friendsemoji-78

Last March, my daughter and I planned a little getaway to Southeast Asia, just the two of us.

I had packed my clothes, my swimsuit, and everything else I thought I needed when I happened to look in the mirror and think:

“The vacation is ready… but is my skin?”

Anyone who has travelled somewhere hot and humid probably understands.

There is strong sunlight, heat, humidity, swimming, very little makeup — and of course, lots and lots of photos.

I was especially worried that my pores would look larger and my skin would start to look loose and tired in the tropical weather.

So before my trip, I decided it was time for a little skin maintenance!

I Originally Came Back for Juvelook

I had previously received a Juvelook Skin Booster treatment from Dr. Park So Yoon at Cheongdam Éclat de Clinic, and I had been extremely happy with the result.

My skin looked brighter, my pores appeared more refined, and the fine lines looked softer. Most of all, my skin simply looked healthier.

Women in their 50s may understand what I mean when I say that aging skin is not only about dryness.

Sometimes, when I wash my face in the morning, my skin can feel slightly loose or almost “soft and floppy” under my fingertips. Moisturizer can make the surface feel hydrated, but it does not necessarily give the skin that firm, supported feeling I remember from years ago.

Because Juvelook had worked so well for me, I assumed I would simply have the same treatment again before my vacation.

Then Dr. Park said:

“This time, I think you should try GOURI.”

“GOURI? What’s That?”

At the time, even though I work in an aesthetic clinic and am familiar with many skin boosters, GOURI was still relatively unfamiliar to Korean patients.

Dr. Park explained something that immediately caught my attention.

She told me that GOURI was developed in Korea, yet had already been used overseas for several years before its official Korean launch.

I found that fascinating!

A Korean product travelling abroad first, building clinical experience internationally, and then finally coming home to Korea.

She also explained that it was not simply a product that had appeared overnight. There was already published research and accumulated clinical experience surrounding liquid PCL formulations.

More importantly for me, Dr. Park had already been studying and using GOURI before its formal Korean launch. She had also prepared and delivered academic lectures on liquid PCL and collagen biostimulation, including at the spring meeting of the Korean Society of Aesthetic Surgery & Medicine.

So this was not a case of:

“A new product just arrived. Let’s try it.”

It felt much more like:

“I have studied this, I have used it, I understand how it behaves, and I think it suits your skin.”

That made a big difference to me.

Even though I work at the clinic, when I become the patient, I think exactly the same way our patients do.

A good product matters.
But I believe it matters just as much who understands the product and who is performing the treatment.

So I simply said:

“If you think GOURI is better for me this time, I’ll trust you.”emoji-73

And Then I Made a Very Brave Decision…

When I had Juvelook previously, I used nitrous oxide analgesia, and I remember thinking:

“Oh, this really isn’t that painful.”

Apparently, I interpreted this as evidence that I had a very high pain tolerance.

So this time I thought:

“I’ll be fine without it.”

I was not fine.

GOURI hurt.

ㅠㅠㅠ

That was the moment I discovered an important truth about myself:

I was never especially brave. The nitrous oxide had simply been doing a very good job.emoji-11

As someone who spends her days reassuring patients that they will be okay, it was quite funny to suddenly find myself lying on the treatment bed thinking, “Why did I refuse the gas?”

I tried to remain elegant.

I did my best.

But pain is pain :")

Next time, I will be a little wiser and choose the option that makes the procedure more comfortable.

What Happened the Next Day?

The following day, my face was slightly swollen, and there was a little redness around some of the injection points.

That made me a little nervous because I had not noticed quite the same reaction after my previous Juvelook treatment.

What impressed me most, though, was the follow-up.

The clinic contacted me the next day and checked my condition in detail.

Not just:

“Are you okay?”

They specifically asked:

“Do you have any bruising?”
“Is there any itching?”
“Do you have any small bumps that look like pimples around the injection sites?”

They also told me that if I developed bruising, they wanted me to come in so they could take a look.

Unfortunately, because of my schedule and preparations for the trip, I was not able to return to the clinic immediately.

But being on the patient side of that follow-up call made me appreciate something I normally see from the staff side.emoji-33

When you have had an injectable treatment and notice something unfamiliar the next morning, even a small change can make you worry.

Having someone check the details carefully instead of simply saying, “It’s normal, don’t worry,” is incredibly reassuring.

Dr. Park also explained that GOURI can sometimes produce a little more of an early tissue response than treatments such as Juvelook Skin or Rejuran, and that the reaction I was describing did not sound unusual.

That was enough to calm me down.

I remember thinking:

“This is where i work, but we really do take good care of people! ”

I felt strangely proud — and a little touched.emoji-78

Then Came Week One

About one week after treatment, it was finally time to leave for my vacation.

Dr. Park had been slightly concerned that I might still have some swelling when I travelled.

I was the optimistic one.

I told her:

“Doctor, treatments usually work really well on me. I think I’ll be fine.”

Apparently, I was right about that part.

Around the one-week mark, I began noticing the difference very clearly.

The first time I really noticed it was while washing my face in the morning.

Before the treatment, my skin sometimes felt softer and looser under my fingers.

Suddenly it felt…

bouncy.

Firm.

Almost springy.

I kept touching my cheeks thinking:

“Is this really my skin?”emoji-38

I may have made a little “Aaah!” sound in the bathroom.

It was that satisfying.

The glow was lovely, but what impressed me more was the texture and firmness I could actually feel with my hands.

It did not feel like I had simply applied something shiny on top of the skin.

It felt as though the skin itself had become more compact and supported.

The Real Test: Southeast Asian Heat

Then came the real challenge.

Hot weather.
Humidity.
Swimming pools.
The beach.
Very little makeup.

Exactly the environment in which I expected my pores to look their absolute worst.

Instead, I was pleasantly surprised!

Even after swimming, my skin still looked smooth and fresh. My pores did not seem nearly as obvious as I had expected, and there was this lovely firm, polished glow that photographed beautifully.emoji-32

Not oily.

Not artificially shiny.

Just healthy-looking skin.

And yes — the photos turned out wonderfully.

When my daughter looked through our vacation pictures and said,

“Mom, your skin looks really good,”

I was ridiculously happy.

There is the happiness of being a mother, travelling with your daughter and making memories together.

And then there is the very different happiness of being a woman in her 50s and hearing that your skin looks good in photographs.

I happily accepted both.

At that moment, I may have silently pledged my loyalty to Dr. Park.

“Doctor, I trust you completely.”

One Month Later… I Wanted Another Treatment

This is where human nature becomes very predictable.

Once you see your skin improving, you immediately think:

“Could it look even better?”emoji-38

About one month later, I was already feeling tempted to do another session.

So I mentioned it to Dr. Park.

And she told me not to come back too quickly.

That is very much her style.

Rather than automatically recommending another treatment every month, she told me that skin boosters — particularly collagen-stimulating treatments — need time to work.

Her advice was essentially:

“Don’t rush it. Give your skin time. Let’s look again in around three months.”

Ironically, I give similar advice to our patients every day.

“Don’t be impatient.”
“Give your skin time to respond.”
“You don’t need to do everything at once.”

But when my own skin started looking better, suddenly I became the impatient patient.

Now I understand everyone a little better.

Both Dr. Park and our clinic team tend to take a slower approach. We would rather allow enough time to observe how the skin responds than keep adding procedures simply because a patient is excited about the result.

And personally, I think that is one of the reasons people stay with a clinic for a long time.

A clinic should not make you feel anxious that you are constantly missing something.

Sometimes the best advice is simply:

“Your skin is doing well. Give it some time.”

Attending the GOURI Seminar Brought the Memory Back

image.png

More recently, I attended the GOURI launch seminar and listened to doctors discuss liquid PCL, collagen biostimulation, injection techniques, clinical studies, and patient selection.

Sitting there, I kept thinking back to that trip in March.

At the time, I had simply trusted Dr. Park’s recommendation and tried the treatment before GOURI was widely known in Korea.

Now, seeing physicians gather to discuss its science and clinical use made those memories feel even more meaningful.

It also reminded me of something I have learned after many years working in aesthetic medicine:

Skin boosters are not interchangeable.

There are many excellent products, and each has different characteristics.

The important question is not,

“Which one is the most famous?”

It is:

“Which one is right for my skin today?”

That was exactly what happened to me.

I walked into the clinic expecting Juvelook.

Dr. Park looked at my skin and recommended GOURI instead.

And for my skin at that particular moment, I am very glad she did.

Would I Have GOURI Again?

Yes! Absolutely!~

I especially liked the change in firmness, skin texture, glow, and the way my pores appeared in photographs.

My experience also taught me two practical lessons.

First, early swelling or redness can happen after injectable treatments, so proper follow-up matters.

Second, I am definitely using nitrous oxide next time.

There is no prize for unnecessary bravery.

For women like me who are entering their 50s and beginning to notice that the skin feels thinner, softer, or less supported than it used to, it may be worth discussing collagen-stimulating skin boosters with an experienced doctor.

Not because we are trying to look twenty again.

I certainly am not.

I simply want my skin to look healthy, firm, elegant, and like the best version of itself at my age.emoji-33

And perhaps that is what I liked most about my GOURI experience.

I did not feel like I had become someone else.

I simply felt that my own skin looked better.

And that made my holiday with my daughter even happier.

This was my very personal GOURI Skin Booster experience — as a woman in her mid-50s, a mother of two, and also GRACE, Manager at Cheongdam Éclat de Clinic.

Sometimes even those of us who work in aesthetic medicine get excited when our skin starts looking better.

Apparently, we are no different from everyone else ^^
