On November 17, 2024, Dr. Park So-yoon of Cheongdam Eclat de Clinic participated in the “Aesthetics and Future Medicine” academic conference hosted by the Korean Society of Cosmetic Surgery.
The conference was held in Room F of the SC Convention Center. This academic gathering, which began in 2001, has become a significant venue for scholarly exchange, drawing the participation of numerous physicians and international experts in the field.This year’s conference attracted over 500 participants and encompassed a wide array of topics in aesthetic medicine, including lasers, fillers, botulinum toxins, skin boosters, stem cells, and surgical procedures.
Since 2017, Dr. Park So-yoon has served as an academic director at this conference, delivering lectures on various advanced topics. In this year’s session, Dr. Park conducted a lecture focusing on foundational theories related to radiofrequency (RF) technology.Radiofrequency devices are categorized into monopolar, bipolar, and multipolar RF technologies. Monopolar devices include Thermage FLX and Oligio X, while bipolar devices include InMode and Skin Aura. Multipolar devices, such as Accent Prime and TuneFace, were also discussed.
The lecture detailed the advantages and disadvantages of each RF device and provided insights into their optimal applications to achieve enhanced clinical outcomes.A notable example included the combination of thread lifting and RF treatments. Citing experimental studies conducted on swine, it was emphasized that RF treatments should ideally be performed two weeks after thread lifting to minimize inflammatory reactions and other adverse effects.
Additionally, findings from a study published in Malaysia on Ulthera Thermage were highlighted. This research reported mild erythema as the primary side effect, with significant improvements in skin tightening observed without major complications.The lecture emphasized the growing popularity of RF treatments in contemporary practice and their widespread application in clinics.
It aimed to equip practitioners with foundational theories, supplemented by clinical experience and scholarly research, to enhance their expertise. The lecture received a highly favorable response from the attending physicians.
