On March 14, 2026, Dr. So Yoon Park of Eclat de Cheongdam presented her Radiesse poster at the R&R Conference held at Mayfield Hotel, Seoul. Her poster introduced a non-surgical approach to philtrum shortening and midface rejuvenation using 3D facial contouring, reflecting Eclat de Cheongdam’s commitment to sophisticated, anatomy-based, customized treatment planning.

At Eclat de Cheongdam, we believe aesthetic medicine should never be one-size-fits-all. Each face has its own balance, movement, soft tissue support, and skin quality. Our clinic is optimized for professional, personalized treatment, designed to create results that look refined, elegant, and natural.

What Is Radiesse?

Radiesse is an injectable treatment made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a carboxymethylcellulose gel carrier. It is known for offering immediate structural support while also working as a biostimulatory treatment over time. Radiesse is approximately 30% CaHA and 70% gel carrier, and the CaHA microspheres are generally reported in the 25–45 μm range.

Unlike treatments that focus only on temporary filling, Radiesse can also support longer-term tissue remodeling. Histologic and review data describe a pattern in which type III collagen appears earlier in the remodeling phase and is gradually followed by more mature type I collagen, alongside increases in elastin and extracellular matrix quality.

How Can Radiesse Help?

Radiesse may help patients who want more than simple volume replacement. By supporting tissue structure and collagen remodeling, it can improve:

  • facial contour and structural support
  • midface and lower face definition
  • skin firmness and texture
  • the appearance of static lines at rest
  • etched lines and perioral rhytids that become more visible with repeated movement

Clinical and review literature describes improvements in skin quality, firmness, wrinkles, dermal thickness, and perioral rhytids with diluted or hyperdiluted CaHA approaches.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

Radiesse may be suitable for patients who:

  • want refined, natural-looking rejuvenation rather than an overfilled appearance
  • notice loss of support in the midface or lower face
  • want to improve skin quality and contour at the same time
  • are concerned about perioral lines, jawline softening, or early structural aging
  • prefer customized physician-led non-surgical treatment planning

At Eclat de Cheongdam, candidacy is determined individually after evaluating facial anatomy, skin thickness, tissue quality, previous procedures, and aesthetic goals.

When Do Results Appear?

Patients may notice immediate support and contour improvement after treatment because of the gel carrier and structural placement. However, one of the most important features of Radiesse is that improvement can continue over the following weeks to months as collagen remodeling progresses. Histologic observations in CaHA studies have described earlier increases in type III collagen, followed by a transition toward type I collagen over later months.

In practical terms, many patients appreciate that Radiesse can look natural early on, then continue to look better as tissue quality evolves.

Possible Side Effects

As with any injectable treatment, side effects can occur. Commonly reported side effects include:

  • swelling
  • redness
  • pain or tenderness
  • bruising
  • itching

These are generally mild and similar to other facial injection procedures, but every treatment should be performed with careful anatomical assessment and proper technique.

Aftercare

After treatment, patients are usually advised to:

  • avoid excessive pressure or massage on the treated area unless specifically instructed
  • avoid strenuous exercise, heat exposure, and alcohol for a short period
  • contact the clinic promptly if they experience unusual pain, marked color change, or unexpected swelling

When energy-based procedures are planned after Radiesse, the sequence and spacing matter. In consensus guidance, if MFU-V and CaHA are performed in the same session, MFU-V is generally performed first, followed by CaHA injection.

What Treatments Can Be Combined with Radiesse?

At Eclat de Cheongdam, combination planning is tailored to the patient. Depending on anatomy and goals, Radiesse may be combined with:

  • microfocused ultrasound with visualization (MFU-V)
  • hyaluronic acid fillers
  • neuromodulators
  • laser-based skin treatments
  • skin quality treatments and personalized rejuvenation protocols

Consensus and recent literature support layered, individualized combination approaches when appropriately selected and sequenced.
